Centro Vasco Zazpirak Bat

The Centro Vasco Zazpirak Bat of Rosario was born in 1912 to hold together a Basque community that was splitting apart. It was linked to the Comité Nacionalista Vasco that had been set up in the city a year earlier. When the Centro Vasco Francés, the Laurak Bat and the Centro Navarro appeared, and groups such as the one from Irun began meeting on their own, some responded with institutions that would halt that fragmentation, and the Zazpirak Bat was one of them. In 1955 it was among the organisations that founded the FEVA, where it is one of the six centres with a guaranteed seat on the Board of Directors, and in the federation's early years it undertook to give Basque classes. Every year it celebrates the Aberri Eguna in its Plaza Gernika, beside the Paraná, and it has its own fronton and restaurant. The Basque Government has recognised it since 6 June 1995, with 270 members in its register.
