Privacy

In short

Euskal Diaspora Gunea is read without signing up or filling anything in. The only thing measured is traffic —how many visits arrive, which pages are read and from which countries— and only if you accept it in the cookie notice. The controller is Mikel Moreno (info (at) euskaldiasporagunea (dot) eus).

Even so, the law treats as personal data some things every website handles, such as the IP address of a visit. This page explains which ones apply here and what they are used for.

Measuring traffic: Google Analytics

If you accept it, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits, pages read, countries, browsers and devices. Legal basis: your consent (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time in Cookies. If you do not accept, Google Analytics is not loaded.

It is set up without Google signals or ad personalisation. According to Google, for visits from the European Union, Switzerland and the United Kingdom it uses the IP address only to work out an approximate location and discards it without storing it. Each visitor's data is kept for two months; after that only aggregate figures remain.

Provider: Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Data may be transferred to Google LLC, in the United States, certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Avenue #4133, Covina, CA 91723, United States), which records technical data about each request, including the IP address, to serve the pages and protect them against abuse. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in the site working and being secure (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(f)). Vercel is certified under the Data Privacy Framework.

If you write to the contact address

Your address and what you tell us are used to reply and, where relevant, to correct or complete the content. Legal basis: the consent you give by writing (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(a)). Emails are kept until the query is resolved and for one year at most. The email service is provided by cdmon (10DENCEHISPAHARD, S.L.U., C/ Girona 96, local 2, 08380 Malgrat de Mar).

Contact details of Basque centres

The centre pages publish each centre's email, phone and website as they appear in the official register of the Basque Government (Open Data Euskadi), so that anyone can find their Basque centre. Some may belong to a specific person. Legal basis: the legitimate interest in sharing that information, which is already public (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(f)). Email addresses are published in a way that spam programs cannot harvest.

If a detail concerns you and you want it removed, write to the contact address: it is taken off the page without your having to give a reason.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your data, its correction or erasure, object to its processing, or ask for it to be restricted or ported, by writing to the contact address; you will get an answer within the one month set by the GDPR. If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (aepd.es).
