Casa Vasca de Antioquia 'Luis Miguel de Zulategi y Huarte'

The Casa Vasca de Antioquia “Luis Miguel de Zulategi y Huarte”, in Medellín, grew out of the Centro de Estudios Vascos de Antioquia. John Alejandro Ricaurte and Catalina Fernández founded that centre in 2004 with other students of the Universidad de Antioquia. It was constituted as a foundation between 2009 and 2010, and the Basque Government recognised it on 13 April 2010 as the country's second Basque centre, after the one in Bogotá. It is named after a Discalced Carmelite born in Pamplona in 1898 who in Medellín left the habit for Blanca Mejía Montoya, a woman from Antioquia, and who from 1937 was a teacher and rector of Bellas Artes there, a music critic and a composer of works of Colombian folk music. Its register lists 76 members.
