The Bordeleko Eskual Etxea was born in 1947 as a home for the Basques of Bordeaux who missed their homeland, and over the years it became a cultural centre. In 1967 it bought its building, and today it occupies a house in the Saint-Pierre district. It has a choir, dance, pelota and Basque language classes. The Basque Government recognised it in 1998; in 2010 it had some 640 members, and the register now credits it with 786.
