Lagunt Eta Maita

Lagunt eta Maita, the Basque centre of Pau, was founded in 1967. One 2011 report places it in Gan, and another from 2010 in Jacques Etchebarne's house with a fronton in Jurançon; Etchebarne led it for thirty years. In 2011 it brought together 760 families and had at one time reached 3,000 members, and on 26 November that year it opened premises of its own, a 300 m² building on the avenue de Buros. It has three choirs, men's, women's and mixed, and classes in Basque and in dance. The Basque Government recognised it on 9 December 2009, and the register credits it with 562 members.
