The Marseillako Euskal Etxea grew out of the friendship of three Basques in Marseille, Stéphan Laplace, Fernando Zabalza and Benoit Etcheverry. They wanted a place for meeting and exchange, open to the Basque community of the city and to anyone interested in its culture. It was founded in 2014, the Basque Government recognised it on 22 December 2015 and the register credits it with 29 members.
