Euskal Etxea Saint Pierre et Miquelon

The Euskal Etxea of Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon is on a French archipelago off Newfoundland, with Basque fishermen since at least the early sixteenth century. In the early seventeenth century fishermen from Donibane Lohizune, Ziburu and Gipuzkoa settled there. The Zazpiak Bat fronton in Saint-Pierre was built in 1906, the Zazpiak Bat club was founded in 1952 and the local pelota league in 1986, and in 2010 a trinquet was added. The Fête Basque is held every third Sunday of August, and the Basque Government recognised the Basque centre on 13 June 2017.
