Ibai Ondoko Etxea

Ibai Ondoko Etxea, in Carmelo (Colonia), was the last of the Basque centres that descendants of Basques opened in the interior of Uruguay in the nineties. It was constituted in 1995, after those of Durazno, Minas, Rosario and Salto, and the Basque Government recognised it on 22 April 1997. In November 2025 it celebrated its thirty years with a dinner, which was attended by Julián Ariztia, who had chaired its first board of directors. The register credits it with 241 members.
