Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea

Saltoko Euskaldunen Taldea was born in Salto in 1992, in the wave of Basque centres that descendants of Basques opened in the interior of Uruguay. It had a forerunner: in 1943 a Zazpiak-bat had been created in the city, but it did not manage to survive. It dates from the same year as Gure Etxea Colonia, in Rosario, and the Basque Government recognised it on 11 June 1996. The register credits it with 647 members, and representatives of the Basque Government call in there when they tour the interior of the country.
