The Basque community in Japan today
04 · 1 min readToday the Basque community of Japan has a single recognised centre. The official register of the Basque Government recognises one Basque body in the country, the Asociación Tokyo-ko Euskal Etxea, founded and recognised in 2009, with 21 members.1 The centre presents itself as a space for exchanging and sharing information about the Basque language and culture, with activities such as the Korrika, bertso championships, tortilla contests and the Euskaraldia.5
