Centro Vasco de El Salvador Euskal Etxea

The Centro Vasco de El Salvador Euskal Etxea, founded in 1988, is the only Basque organisation in the country. Almost everything known about the Salvadoran Basque community goes through it. It is also known as Euskal Etxea de El Salvador or Casa Vasca de San Salvador. The Basque Government recognised it seven years after its founding, on 26 September 1995, and its register lists 33 members. In October 2012, ahead of the Basque Parliament elections on the 21st, it organised a videoconference with representatives of the Basque parties: Iñaki Goikoetxea, of EAJ-PNV, and Jon Etxabe, of EH Bildu, took part, and both congratulated the centre “for being pioneers and the only Basque centre in the whole world that had put forward an activity like this”.
