Andorra

The best documented thing about the Euskal Etxea d’Andorra is a week of celebration: the Setmana Basca, which it held in mid-December to see out the year and welcome Christmas. The one known in detail is that of 2004, reported by euskalkultura.eus.⁴

That year the programme began on the 9th, at the Centro de Congresos y Exposiciones de Andorra la Vella (Congress and Exhibition Centre), with a lecture by Henrike Knörr, vice-president of Euskaltzaindia, on the Basque language in the Pyrenees.⁴

On the 11th the celebration took to the streets. Coinciding with the Santa Lucía fair, the centre set up a Basque stall in the Plaça del Poble in Andorra la Vella and held the Santo Tomás celebration there early: txistorra and cider, baserritarra clothing and a performance by the Itsasi dance group, from Azpeitia. The week ended on the 18th and 19th with a txalaparta workshop, given by Héctor Garde and Larraitz Larrazabal, who came from the Euskal Etxea in Barcelona.⁴

For all of this, the centre had its premises on the avinguda d’Enclar in Santa Coloma and a board with a president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and three members.⁵
