Basque Museum & Cultural Center, Inc.

The Basque Museum & Cultural Center in Boise (Idaho) is the only Basque museum in the United States, born in 1985 in a former Basque boardinghouse on the Basque Block. It was founded thanks to Adelia Garro Simplot in the Cyrus Jacobs-Uberuaga house, at 607 Grove Street: built in 1864, it was a Basque boardinghouse from 1910 and took in immigrants until 1969. Since 1993 its main building has been at 611 on the same street, and the museum is also home to an ikastola. It joined NABO in 1990; the Basque Government recognised it in 1996, and its register credits it with 785 members.
