Euzkaldunak, Inc., Boise Basque Center

Euzkaldunak, Inc. is the society that the Basques of Boise (Idaho) founded in 1949 to build a house of their own, the Basque Center. Work began in 1950 at 601 Grove Street, on a building in the baserri style, and according to Gloria Totoricagüena it was the second purpose-built Basque centre in the United States, after the one in New York in 1928. Together with the Oinkari Basque Dancers it organised the first Jaialdi in 1987, the international festival that in 2000 brought together some 30,000 people and is now held every five years. The Basque Government recognised it in 1996.
